Funmi Shonekan first entered the legal profession when she was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor in Bwari, Abuja in 2003. The Nigerian Legal System is heavily influenced by the English Common Law System, so her training was anchored on notions and principles under the English Common Law System and Nigerian Laws which continuously evolve over time.
In her early years, Funmi Shonekan served as a judicial clerk for a Lagos High Court justice, in the Lagos Commercial Division. She then moved to work in the law firm setting and gained vast experience in domestic and international trademark registration, credit line agreements, property law, CAC filings, and business formation.
She is also trained and highly skilled in the healthcare industry with extensive clinical experience in the United States, where she has gained valuable experience in intensive care, acute care, and perioperative services. This unique skill set allows her to add value in a legal-health consulting role to reputable organizations where she consults on process and performance improvement initiatives.
